Peterson Elected to Geoprofessional Business Association Board

August 10, 2021

Throughout her career, Gannett Fleming Vice President Teresa Peterson, PE, CME, LEED AP O+M, ENV SP, has sought to expand her knowledge. Inspired by her high school chemistry teacher, she was determined from an early age to become an engineer. Peterson likes to know how things work and why, so she’s perpetually learning.

That learning is what propelled her, in 2006, to get involved with the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA). Now, more than a decade later, she will take on a new role as a member of the GBA’s 2021-23 board of directors.

The GBA has been an important part of her growth and advancement in her field. It is the only organization solely dedicated to helping geoprofessionals meet their unique business challenges. Peterson credits the organization with providing her with the opportunities to learn skills such as team building and leadership, assets in all areas of the industry. To her, the association has been helpful with learning how to work with different types of clients and contracts.

“I have valued having GBA as a resource, sharing the experience of growing my career alongside others on similar paths, and having people I can trust to bounce ideas off of,” said Peterson.

Peterson has had a variety of experiences with the GBA. She participated in the Fundamentals of Professionals Practice program in 2010, a project management bootcamp. The program was administered by GBA and served as the beginning of Peterson’s relationship with the organization. Not long after, Peterson was nominated for the GBA’s New Leaders Program. Eventually, she joined the Environmental Business Group, of which she became vice-chair, and then the Emerging Issues and Trends Committee.

Over the next three years as part of GBA’s board, Peterson will receive well-rounded exposure to all activities throughout the organization. From conference planning to team building skills, she will be well- equipped to set Gannett Fleming up for the next 100 years with creative and sustainable practices.
