Veteran Hydropower Engineer Bowersox Joins Gannett Fleming, Driving Results for Hydroelectric Clients
Deepening our commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions to hydropower clients, Gannett Fleming welcomes industry leader Randy Bowersox, PE, as the firm’s hydropower market executive.
Bowersox joins Gannett Fleming for the next chapter of his impressive 20-year career, 15 years of which were spent with the Northern California Power Agency (NCPA). At NCPA, he progressed through the ranks of chief dam safety engineer, hydro manager, and most recently, assistant general manager of generation services, helping provide strategic oversight of its power plants, which are among the cleanest in the nation and serve more than 700,000 customers.
“We are thrilled that Randy chose to join Gannett Fleming as we continue to grow our service offerings to our hydropower clients,” said Gannett Fleming Executive Vice President John Kovacs, PE. “Our hydropower and other energy storage clients will greatly benefit from his expertise in facility operations, maintenance, safety inspections, and risk-mitigation strategies. He is a terrific addition to the team.”
Bowersox is also adept at maximizing aging and costly infrastructure to ensure its longevity and reliability. He is experienced in revenue optimization, power purchase agreements, and outage planning. He is exceptionally skilled in the regulatory compliance of hydroelectric facilities under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and dam safety agencies, such as the California Division of Safety of Dams. As dam owners and operators face unprecedented regulations, he knows how to guide them through the complex process and can provide technical assistance to achieve compliance.
Bowersox earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, a Master of Science in civil and environmental engineering, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Davis.
Active in professional associations, he is engaged in the Centre for Energy Advancement Through Technological Innovation (CEATI) International, National Hydropower Association (NHA), United States Society on Dams (USSD), and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), and joins his new Gannett Fleming colleagues who actively contribute to these organizations.
