Announcing Gannett Fleming’s 2022 ESG Report
AEC Firm Marks Earth Day with Review of Environmental, Social, and Governance Progress
Gannett Fleming released its 2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report today, marking the firm’s evolution from more than a decade of publishing Corporate Sustainability Reports.
“This report involves numbers and metrics, but at its core are the people who make it happen. Every day, our clients, employees, and members of the communities we serve come together to create a more equitable and sustainable world,” said Bob Scaer, PE, CEO. “From working to increase mobility and accessibility, to prioritizing employee mental and physical health, to engaging with the next generation of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry leaders, we each play a role in upholding and advancing the tenets of ESG.”
You can read more about Gannett Fleming’s ESG commitment in this report, which covers ESG metrics and initiatives, including:
- Sustainability and environmental tracking.
- Charitable giving.
- Project innovation.
- Supplier diversity.
- Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

What is ESG and Why is it Important?
The ESG framework at Gannett Fleming includes environmental factors such as responsible usage of natural resources; social factors such as employee and client relations, charitable giving, and community involvement; and corporate governance factors such as business standards and policies. Gannett Fleming has been reporting on sustainability efforts for 13 years, but the report evolved this year to include ESG-related actions.
“There are many parts of our business that fall under ESG – from resiliency to safety to our corporate standards and policies – all with the goal of making positive environmental and social impacts. Our employees, clients, and firm leaders want to effect change today and create a better future long-term. ESG gives us the framework to help achieve and measure those efforts,” said ESG Director Esther McGinnis.
Gannett Fleming’s vision is to “be a driving force in improving our communities and sustaining our world.” Therefore, ESG cannot be a standalone, siloed effort for our firm, or for any business. Instead, it is a foundational, cohesive effort aligned with business strategy to ensure programs, policies, and projects positively impact society.
